Companies buy regional and boost local economy


The Let's Do Business program is one of the Chamber’s business initiatives encouraging Tulsa companies to buy local. Through this initiative, companies pledge to examine purchasing practices and identify how to localize out-of-state business purchases.

By localizing at least 5 percent of business expenditures it could mean as much as $1.4 million each day returned to the local economy.

Through a user friendly website, www.LetsDoBusinessTulsa.com, companies are offered a complete B-to-B connectivity, matching with local vendors plus the products and services they need as well as offer a hotline for businesses with unique manufacturing requirements. The site offers a Do-It-Yourself plan to manage the simple task of spending business dollars locally.

A couple of tips include:

• Make the pledge - Bring 5 percent of your company's out-of-area spending home and be part of the partner database. 
• Hit the books - Pinpoint dollars your company send out of our area and look for a niche. 
• Check for partners - Use the website directory to find companies in the Greater Tulsa area offering everything you need.
• "Let's Do Business" - It you can get it locally, and it meets your needs, your standards, your price, why not buy it here? If a partner doesn't have everything you need, they might have 5 percent of it.
