Nomination Now Being Accepted for the 2013 Crystal Star Small Business Awards
Each year, Tulsa Regional Chamber honors the best and brightest of small business in the Tulsa area with its Crystal Star Small Business Awards. Business members are invited to nominate an esteemed colleague to receive recognition for his or her business efforts. The awards consist of 10 categories, including:
- Small Business Person
- Entrepreneurial Success
- Small Business Exporter
- Young Entrepreneur
- Family Owned Business
- Diversity and Inclusive Small Business Champion
- Veteran Small Business Champion
- Women in Business Champion
- Small Business Incubator
All nominees must be Chamber members and in business a minimum of three years. All nominations will be considered and reviewed by the Small Business Awards Committee to verify nominees meet award criteria. Along with Tulsa-area recognition, winners are nominated for state-level awards with a chance to proceed to regional or national.
About the Awards
The Small Business Awards symbolize excellence in the business community. The Crystal Star is awarded annually to small business practitioners who, in the judgment of their peers, exemplify professional skill and leadership and are considered a champion in their field.
The Crystal Star is the established icon for the Small Business Awards because it is:
- Respected:
The Crystal Star Award is sponsored by the Tulsa Regional Chamber, the primary advocate for Tulsa’s business community representing more than 3,000 businesses members and the Tulsa community.
The winners of the annual small business Crystal Star Award represent the best Tulsa has to offer.
- Prestigious:
In all of its 100 years, the Tulsa Regional Chamber has a reputation for catering to the needs of our business community both big and small. Building a better, stronger and well equipped community is what keeps our business community accelerating with advancement and innovation.
- Resilient:
The saying is “strength in numbers.” 78% of all businesses in the Tulsa MSA have fewer than 10 employees. That’s 33,432 businesses…all of which add $4.4 billion of gross product of the Tulsa economy. These small businesses provide over 90,000 primary jobs and an estimated payroll of $1.6 billion annually. Small is big business in Tulsa.
- Rewarding:
A big idea is usually how small businesses are introduced to the business community. With that big idea comes sacrifice including time, energy and, at times, finances. Success in small business is more than deserving of recognition and praise.
