Sustainability is alive and well in Tulsa. Going green involves a communal effort and every citizen is doing their part to preserve the city of Tulsa for future generations.
City of Tulsa: Last year Tulsa became the 500th city in the U.S. to sign the Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement under the leadership of Mayor Taylor as part of the City's 2007 Energy Conservation and Efficiency Plan.
Tulsa's BeGreen efforts involve various initiatives to focus on re-greening Tulsa. This program was launched in spring 2008 to replenish the thousands of trees destroyed in the 2007 ice storm. The ReGreen Tulsa program is a joint effort of Mayor Kathy Taylor, Tulsa’s Tree Advisory Committee and the local nonprofit organization Up With Trees. The long term goal is to plant 20,000 new trees by 2010.
Additional initiatives focus on water quality, air quality, energy conservation and recycling.

Tulsa's Young Professionals: More than 70 young professionals head up a volunteer Sustainability "Crew" to lead the younger demographic in Tulsa with various sustainability and grassroots efforts to preserve Tulsa. Proving that sustainability is not only a trend, the TYPros Sustainability Crew is making an effort to make "green" practices a social norm in Tulsa.
