Chamber announces more than 370 new jobs and hiring from four regional companies
10.14.2011
The Tulsa Metro Chamber announced today a group of Tulsa-area companies’ plans to grow its respective workforces, resulting in a significant number of jobs created.
The companies that announced plans to expand their workforces are Fisher Products, Avery Barron Industries, AT&T and Process Manufacturing. Combined, the companies are adding as many as 370 new jobs.
“Together, with the more than 370 new jobs announced today, we’ve had more than 4,500 new jobs announced year-to-date from all companies in the region,” said Mike Neal, Chamber’s president and CEO. “We have a lot to be proud of right now as a city and as a region, and the Chamber certainly would like to acknowledge that is takes a lot of hard work throughout the community to garner the sort of economic praise that the Tulsa area has received lately.”
“Economy.com has reported, today, that Tulsa’s manufacturing presence will bolster the economic recovery. Payrolls are growing at nine times the national rate, and hiring is accelerating despite the soft patch weighing on U.S. manufacturers,” said Clancy.
The new jobs announced will have a substantial economic impact. That impact, as researched by Bob Ball, Tulsa Metro Chamber economist and economic research manager, is as follows:
• The new jobs announced today will support an estimated 750 additional jobs throughout the Tulsa-area economy and a total income of more than $61 million
• The new hires will contribute more than $50 million to the production of goods and services in the Tulsa-area economy annually, and support another $65 million at least in goods and services throughout the economy
• The state and cities and counties within the Tulsa-area gain more than $11 million in revenues due to the employment of the new hires
• Local sales and property taxes supported by the new hires total nearly $4 million
The Chamber, through its Tulsa’s Future jobs-creation initiative, is committed to working with businesses to help them stay in Tulsa, expand their markets and grow, attract and retain a qualified workforce. Tulsa’s Future had a hand in creating nearly 16,000 jobs in its first five-year phase. The initiative’s second phase has exceeded its goals in terms of funding and investor recruitment.
